July 2020 updates

This release introduces three features that should make creating or editing your edge configurations simpler:

More information on dependent SKUs

Local Edge Configurator now informs you when you have a product that is compatible with a rack only if it also contains and additional product. For example, if you add a NetShelter CX 24V Replacement Power Supply (AR4705) into a NetShelter CX Mini (AR4000MV), you must have a NetShelter CX Fan Booster Kit (AR4703). If you don't, then Local Edge Configurator will highlight that you need an AR4703 as a warning.

Expansion of third party components

Local Edge Configurator now displays many more third party servers, storage and networking equipment from vendors such as Dell, HPE and Cisco. If you still cannot see the product that you're looking for, then submit your requests to us.

Inclusion of ground wire kits to pre-integrated racks

Schneider Electric fits ground wire kits between UPSs are racks when they are pre-integrated. Local Edge Configurator now automatically includes these when you mark a rack as one to be pre-integrated.

Monitoring and Dispatch Services

In June 2020, Local Edge Configurator included Monitoring & Dispatch Services for edge designs. These are services that provide 1 year coverage for each rack and you should note that devices should have Network Management Cards to facilitate remote management. Local Edge Configurator now suggests a suitable service plan for each rack in your solution on the 'Checkout' screen. Once the user confirms, the Monitoring and Dispatch service SKU is added to the solution and any unnecessary component level SKUs are removed for selected rack.

These service plans are available in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. More countries to follow shortly.

Using Monitoring and Dispatch Services

1. Once a configuration is completed and you reach the checkout page, the user is recommended the relevant Monitoring & Dispatch Service SKU for each racks which qualify for service level.

Note: Racks that have at least one Smart-UPS, and rPDU are eligible for Monitoring & Dispatch Services.

2. Users can uncheck a rack from the list if they do not wish to add Monitoring and Dispatch service SKUs for any of the racks.

3. Click "Confirm" to add the service SKU to design for selected rack.

Refer to the chart below for recommended Service Levels and SKUs information.
