Monitoring and Dispatch Services

In June 2020, Local Edge Configurator included Monitoring & Dispatch Services for edge designs. These are services that provide 1 year coverage for each rack and you should note that devices should have Network Management Cards to facilitate remote management. Local Edge Configurator now suggests a suitable service plan for each rack in your solution on the 'Checkout' screen. Once the user confirms, the Monitoring and Dispatch service SKU is added to the solution and any unnecessary component level SKUs are removed for selected rack.

These service plans are available in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. More countries to follow shortly.

Using Monitoring and Dispatch Services

1. Once a configuration is completed and you reach the checkout page, the user is recommended the relevant Monitoring & Dispatch Service SKU for each racks which qualify for service level.

Note: Racks that have at least one Smart-UPS, and rPDU are eligible for Monitoring & Dispatch Services.

2. Users can uncheck a rack from the list if they do not wish to add Monitoring and Dispatch service SKUs for any of the racks.

3. Click "Confirm" to add the service SKU to design for selected rack.

Refer to the chart below for recommended Service Levels and SKUs information.

Lead Time Offer (LTO) information

Local Edge Configurator introduces a new feature called Lead Time Offer (LTO). This is displayed at the top right side of the tool bar beside the price:

LTO represents an estimated lead time in days on the standard number of business days from the receipt of the order to its shipment. Lead times are subject to product availability at the time of order receipt.

You can see the LTO for each of the parts by clicking on the 'clock' icon:

Sometimes, LTO displays as 'N/A' if one of the constituent parts has an unknown LTO. Local Edge Configurator also cannot display the LTO for pre-integrated solutions because it involves our factories putting your solution together. The LTO will not include custom parts if you add them to your solution either here or in Design Portal.

You should contact your Project Coordinator for project specific lead time after submitting your order.

April Updates

In this release focus was to support cooling configurations in Local Edge Configurator. You can now configure cooling for your edge designs.

Support for Uniflair SP and Uniflair RM cooling products

Local Edge Configurator now allows you to configure cooling solutions using Uniflair RM and Uniflair SP cooling products.

Steps to configure:

  1. Select required cooling type and add the SKUs to your design:

  2. Add SKUs to your design and the tool validates any missing products.
  3. In the Rack view, add RM units to rack. Since Uniflair SP cooling is ceiling mounted, you will not be allowed to drag these to the rack.
  4. Auto fix: LEC validates for sufficient cooling capacity, rack placement, and any missing SKUs. Click the auto-fix icon in the warnings section and LEC fixes the problems for you:

Issue Fixed: UPS Runtime discrepancy

Local Edge Configurator was showing a runtime of 3 mins higher than expected or UPSs.
This is fixed now.

March Updates

In March 2020 , Local Edge Configurator released the capability to configure Industrial Edge Reference Designs.

These solutions are developed by our global teams to specifically meet the need of Industrial Edge computing applications.
Our Reference Designs are engineered and tested with our IT Alliance partners to meet the recommended deployment requirements for AVEVA System Platform and AVEVA Historian.

Industrial Edge Reference Designs

Users can select from list and modify options based on their need.
This feature is available in the USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Netherlands and Spain.

BOM correction for Pre-integrated racks

Local Edge Configurator now suggests alternate sensor SKUs for pre-integrated rack configurations.Users are recommended to replace NBACS125 in their pre-integrated configuration with NBHN125, NBRK0250 and NBES0303 instead.

MicroDC Xpress offer is now removed

MicroDC Xpress options are removed from Local Edge Configurator. Users should instead use pre-integrated rack option to configure and order pre-integrated racks. This offers greater flexibility by allowing customers to mix and match many more products together rather than the fixed configuration which were available earlier.
